Alexandra Burke weaves her magic in tight red dress... but extensions reveal what appears to be a receding hairline

By Mail Online Showbiz Reporter

Hair-raising: Alexandra Burke showed off her unusually high hairline as she performs at the CLIC Sargent Christmas show at the Royal Albert Hall, London

She's known for her knock-out figure - but despite wearing an eye-popping short red dress and spiked stiletto boots at a gig last night, Alexandra Burke's look was somewhat Overcome by her harsh hair.

The star's straight style did little to hide a very high hairline which made her forehead look unusually big.

It showed the damage wreaked on her locks from years of wearing tight hair extensions - or a weave as it's more commonly known - have taken a toll on her own hair.

Scarlet woman: Despite the harsh hair the 2008 X Factor winner looked stunning in a short red dress and vertiginous spiky stiletto boots

The singer was performing at the fundraising CLIC Sargent Christmas Celebration concert, held at Royal Albert Hall.

Alexandra isn't alone in her hair woes however.

Other celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are all reported to have suffered hair loss as a result of their extensions.

She told OK magazine: 'I really love One Direction. They remind me of five little Justin Biebers and I think the girls are going to go wild for them.'

And she reckons the fab fivesome - Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn - have got that special something.

The London lass also revealed she had a soft spot for the show second favourite, Scouse songbird Rebecca.

She said: 'Rebecca is just different. She’s unique and reminds me of Sade.'

However, of Cher Lloyd, she said the 17-year-old should have worked harder to get a more lovable public image.

Shock: Alexandra is backing Rebecca Ferguson to win the X Factor - but she looked shocked to be put through to the final

She chided: 'At the end of the day it’s a public voting thing and they’ve got to warm to you because you have to remember you’re on a TV screen.

'There’s only so much of you and your personality the public are going to see so you’ve got to be really careful how you play it.'

But she added: 'When I met her she seemed really nice.'

Alexandra was back on the X Factor last Sunday, when she performed her new single The Silence, out this week.
